Richard B. Caschette

Rich Caschette is one of the most experienced trial lawyers in Colorado. His practice emphasizes business torts and commercial litigation, healthcare and securities fraud litigation, and white-collar criminal defense. Mr. Caschette also handles internal investigations for both companies and government agencies. He has first-chaired over 125 civil and criminal trials.
Mr. Caschette served as the First Assistant United States Attorney for the District of Colorado. In that position, Mr. Caschette supervised all federal criminal prosecutions within the District from inception of a criminal investigation through presentation of the case to grand jury, plea negotiations, motions practice, entry of pleas, trials, sentencing and appeals. In addition, he personally prosecuted a number of high profile white-collar criminal cases. Mr. Caschette also supervised all federal civil litigation within the District and personally handled and negotiated the settlement of several massive environmental tort cases, including the civil prosecution of environmental claims against Summitville mine contractors, resulting in a $27.5 million settlement, the largest settlement paid by an individual to the federal government in Colorado history.
Mr. Caschette was named a 2006, 2007 and 2008 "Colorado Super Lawyer" in the area of business litigation by the publishers of 5280 Magazine and Law & Politics Magazine. He is a Fellow of the American Board of Trial Advocates and a member of the Litigation Council for the Colorado Bar Association. He is also a member of the Board of Directors of the Colorado Trial Lawyers Association. He has been a guest lecturer at the University of Colorado and University of Denver Law Schools. He is a former Denver Deputy District Attorney.
Mr. Caschette has been practicing law since 1979, and is admitted to practice in federal and state courts in Colorado and Wyoming. He is rated AV by Martindale-Hubbell.
