FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE
Mihm Managing Editor of Lawyers' Professional Liability Books
DENVER – Attorney Michael Mihm, founding partner of Starrs Mihm & Caschette LLP, is the managing editor of a 2-volume book on lawyers’ professional liability to be released this week by the Colorado Bar Association’s publishing arm, CLE in Colorado, Inc.
The 34-chapter “Lawyers’ Professional Liability in Colorado: Preventing Legal Malpractice and Disciplinary Actions, 2nd Edition” is designed as a resource for lawyers who seek guidance on the legal and professional responsibility issues that arise in the practice of law.
The volumes contain information for lawyers to use in identifying and avoiding malpractice and ethics violations and in instituting good risk management procedures. The book addresses the “law of lawyering” and professional ethics issues that frequently arise for practicing lawyers.
In addition to acting as the managing editor of the series, Mihm wrote a chapter on “Conflicts of Interest.” Mihm was a major contributor to the first edition of the book, published in 1999. For the second edition of the book, Mihm expanded the book from 13 to 34 chapters, with topics ranging from lawyer advertising to lawyers’ professional liability under the federal Sarbanes-Oxley Act. Mihm recruited prominent Colorado lawyers (and one judge) to write many of the chapters, all acknowledged experts in their fields.
Starrs Mihm & Caschette LLP lawyers Ross Pulkrabek, Justin Blankenship and Betsy Hyatt also contributed to the new volumes. Pulkrabek wrote the chapter on “Collecting Fees.” Hyatt and Blankenship rewrote and expanded upon 5 chapters that Mihm wrote for the first edition in 1999.
With more than 20 years of trial experience, Mihm’s practice focuses on complex civil litigation including business tort litigation, legal malpractice, catastrophic personal injury and wrongful death. He received his bachelor’s degree from Walla Walla College cum laude in 1980, and his law degree from the University of Southern California Law School in 1983.Background:Starrs Mihm & Caschette LLP is a firm of seasoned trial lawyers specializing in complex civil and white-collar criminal cases.
